12/13/12 Poetry “Meant To Be

Meant To Be

You and me were meant to be
Now you are our family

Sent by chance, loved by choice
The missing link–Gods work, of course

When youth was here two blessings were given
Sad to say no girls from Heaven

There was a plan from up above
One I had no thoughts nearly of

You came to me by way of birth
Your parents trusted us at first

At the time God called your mom to home
She gave me Mike to have and hold

You came later, a fate to be
And now a daughter you are to me

So much love and gratitude I feel
Loved and cared for, that’s the deal

Grateful for your mother’s love
You and Mike fit like a glove

It was to be four, not two
All because of Mike and you

I so enjoy this blog I had to share it with you.

Niagara Falls is a beautiful area; we only had enough time to spend one day there, but we thoroughly enjoyed it.  It was nice to get a bit of fall weather and see the leaves start to change.  Here are some photos from the Niagara Falls and Niagara on the Lake portion of our weekend getaway:

11/15/12 Poetry “Not Yet”

So much to say,
So much to do…
Your time, Mother dear,
Not yet near through.

So far, yet so near
We are in heart,
That this day today,
My journey will start.

Phone calls to be made
And bags to pack,
To you I will fly
And never look back.

Our family; such love
In our own way we show,
Never compared to others,
Uniqueness did grow.

So to you my dear family,
Together we’ll be.
No longer to wait,
Your faces I’ll see.

Not yet, dear mom,
For you to leave
This space here on earth,
Not yet to grieve.

You’re in our hearts;
Forever we’ll love.
Your words, we’ll remember;
Our gift from above.

Our time, so precious,
Every moment we get,
For not yet, sweet family,
Not yet, Not yet.

Today we said “Goodbye” to you
Spirit transformed, angel dust blew
Your life, your soul, begin anew.

We’ll fly to you, on that you can bet
But not yet, sweet family
Not yet, Not yet.

11/14/12 Poetry “So Still”

In the silence, so still
Lying in wait, I do and will
For perfect love, my heart to fill

Here you are, my little one
Sent to me from God above
Pink and plump, the silence done
Sweet sounds and laughter, so much fun

Then, there too, here come the cries
Wild and frantic, capability denied
My doubts and fears become alive
Confidence, instinct gone awry

Peace and quiet soon return
Inadequacy of no concern
Giggles, coos, smiles insure
Happiness in heart affirm

As he grows and lessons learn
Make me better pages turn
My life journey no scars, no burns
Only joy no fears return

And so life goes for worse or better
Ups and downs go on forever
Life long-lived in proof and letter
Family love brings growth together

11/14/12 Poetry “Paradise”

Woke up early. What did I see?
Blue sky, aqua waves staring at me.
Palm trees swaying side to side;
Lovely hula girls dance as if to glide.

Pictures and smiles; side-aching laughter
Memories to share for life ever after.
Big floppy hat, in the sand I stroll
This holiday for sure, not one to be droll.

Time well-spent, golf’s rolling hills
Poolside, a swim, with fresh island fish to smoke on the grill.
Ahhhh, Lahaina, the best place to shop
With t-shirts and leis and tikis on top.

Paradise I found, in this magical place.
That, you can tell by the grin on my face.
Our room with a “view” immeasurable to behold;
Maui, our heaven, its weight worth in gold.

11/14/12 Poetry “Dear God”

Dear God,

Today I woke to the sound of the chirping crickets and the rhythmic pattern of my rolling breath.
So full; for all that You have given me.
For a joy deep in my soul… A life full of love, laughter and song.

Today I woke with anticipation for all this day has to bring;
The promise of peace and calm as I walk in Your light.
And lying in wait for the rising sun and its glow as it peaks its golden hew over the horizon.

Today I give thanks for all the loves in my life; family, friends and all I encounter. I sit in excitement, waiting for a time with my friend and a knowing that side-aching laughter will ensue.

Today I will spend time with you as I celebrate the life of a man who has come home to You. I look forward to this, as it is a time for me to feel the Holy Spirit within me, feeling Her warmth from the inside out.

Today I lay in the knowing that this day will be all I make of it, with Your guidance. Hearing in the silence Your will and the chance to make a choice You will be so proud of. I think of the promise for an opportunity to live in humility, a gift that I have prayed for so many times; one that I liken to a climb up a slippery slope as I try to grasp hold of it.

Today I pray for Your guidance and assistance to live a day that is judgment-free. That I shall allow others their God-given right to live as they choose, and not as I would have them live.

Today I know will be the best it can be as I see in the distance my hand in Yours as we walk into the orange glow of the oncoming sunset. The glow of You and me together as it should be.

11/14/12 Poetry “Oh No, Not Again!”

It’s 10pm, Oh no, not again

No Internet or T.V…

I could take a pee,

Or pick up a pen,

Or maybe read “Little Red Hen”

Ready for bed, but not yet to sleep

I look up and stare at the ceiling

And say, “Boo Hoo, Oh no, not again”,

Wish I could shake this odd feeling.

I could hum a song

And say a quick prayer

All this to help me to sleep,

But, then again, a tried and true trick,

I guess I’ll just have to count sheep!

And, so it goes, as it usually does,

I feel myself start to get drowsy.

And Thank God I used my writing again

As to rid of this dread,

And not to eat bread,

And run from this feeling of lousy!

Good Night, one and all,

And to God I will pray,

Blessed dreams and sweet kisses

Wish lots of good wishes

And look toward the new dawning day.
